Tiger Tech Robotics’ objective continues to be fostering a love for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), as well as building upon authentic 21st Century skills for students to become technological leaders in our community and beyond.
The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition we are participating in this year combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team ‘brand,’ hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to ‘real-world engineering’ as a student can get!
Robotics incorporates mechanical engineering, electrical programming, and computer science in developing the design, construction, operation and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing.
